Remoter’s Life: Nienke Appels
Meet Nienke Appels, Brand & Content Strategist from Holland, living in Bali, Indonesia. This is how she makes remote work, work for her.
Nienke, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m born & raised in Holland but when I was 18 I move to California for 1 year. This year changed my life so after coming back I soon realized Holland was just too small for me; there is so much more to see!
I’ve obtained my BSc in Milan (Italy& London), travelled a lot, and now I’ve been based in Bali for 9 months already.
Can you tell us more about your job?
I help other entrepreneurs with their Brand & Content strategy. Why? Especially if you work online, your online presence is your business card. I believe that showing the real you online will cause you to attract te right clients.
Do you have a dedicated space to work?
Not really. At the moment I work from home from my desk, but I also like to work from coffeeshops.
What does your typical workday look like?
I love that I can plan my time according to what works for me.
So I start with a meditation, I read and make breakfast.
After breakfast I work for like 1–2 hours working on my own content & marketing, following online courses etc.
Then I’ll have 1 lunchbreak of around 2 hours, and say from 2pm onwards I start to work on client stuff.
In the late afternoon I have calls with Europe due to the time difference.
What do you like most about working remotely?
It allows me to pursuit my biggest passion, traveling, fulltime.
I don’t need holidays, I learn something new everyday cause I’m not bound to staying in Holland.
